Tutiam details

  • Description

Tutiam is an Internet worm that spreads by e-mail via messages with infected attachments, and also through IRC chats. Once executed, the parasite secretly installs itself to the system and runs a spreading routine. Tutiam searches the infected system for e-mail addresses. Then it sends out bogus e-mail messages in English or German. Some of the letters are being sent with malicious attachments, while others contain a link to the worm. Tutiam also propagates through IRC by sending links to the worm to users in certain chat rooms. The parasite does not carry any destructive payload, as it is designed only for spreading. Tutiam searches the system for Zip and RAR archives and infects them by adding its own copy. Opening any of such archives will not infect the clean system, but running the added file will secretly install the worm. Tutiam runs on every Windows startup.
