One can scan an area by means of a notebook, a compatible wireless network card and Network Stumbler for IEEE802b.11. Found Access Points are saved in a list along with useful information such as SSID, encryptions, the Access Point's MAC Address and the signal strength. One can also find out the exact location of an Access Point with the help of a GPS Receiver.
