Hookdump, the best keylogger for Win3x/9x, was my favourate. Little, configurable, easy-to-use and informative. However I expirienced a problem. AVP easily identifies it. The checked way to hide exe-file from antiviruses - packing - failed. Because Hookdump is LE executable most packers don't work with it and those that work are transparent for AVP - it unpacks them on-fly.Beside this problem Hookdump was designed for Win9x and not for WinNT. I wanted something that is aware of multiuser environment.There is amount of multi-functional spies for WinNT platform but all of them (at least those that I checked) are too big and too multi-functional. I wanted simple. Thus, MSGATE was born.
