Marlap_b details

  • Description

Marlap.b is a trojan that uses social engineering techniques to steal confidential information from its victims. Once executed, the parasite starts searching for running AOL software. If Marlap.b finds such software, it displays a fake AOL form, which asks the user to provide his or her personal information including the name, date of birth, address, phone number, credit card number, bank account details, social security number, etc. After the user fills in the form, Marlap.b secretly transfers gathered data to a predefined remote host. The trojan can also download arbitrary files and block access to popular security-related web sites. It is able to terminate running Microsoft AntiSpyware program and two Windows tools - the Task Manager and the Command Prompt. Marlap.b runs on every Windows startup.
