Marlap details

  • Description

Marlap is a trojan that uses social engineering techniques to steal confidential information from its victims. Once executed, the parasite searches for running AOL software. If Marlap finds such software, it displays a fake AOL form, which asks the user to provide his or her personal information including the name, date of birth, address, phone number, credit card number, bank account details, driver’s license information, social security number, etc. After the user fills in the form, Marlap secretly transfers gathered data to a predefined remote host. The trojan can also download arbitrary files and terminate running Microsoft AntiSpyware program. Marlap runs on every Windows startup.
