Removal instructions for fujacks:

Fujacks is a worm that spreads through network shares protected by weak passwords. It also propagates by copying itself to local hard drives. Furthermore, the parasite attempts to infect all executable files it finds on the compromised computer. Fujacks carries a dangerous payload. It terminates running popular antiviruses, firewalls and other security-related applications. It may also delete some executable files and disable installed security software. The worm secretly runs on every Windows startup.

Re: Fujacks

My Norton advised me yesterday that it had found Fujacks on my computer in the Winrar file. I quaratined the worm with Norton, and then followed Norton´s directions for removal of Fujacks. When I got to the step of removing the Fujacks registry values, I found that the predicted values were not in my registry at all. I´m not sure what to think now.

Should I not have quaratined fujacks before editing the registry?

Is my computer now safe or should I do something else?

I have several data cd´s that I have been working on over the last several days on that computer. Are these cd´s infected with Fujacks, and can Fujacks be spread to other computers via these cd´s?

Can I re-infect my own computer if I put one of those cd´s back into my own computer?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Fujacks

If you have been updating Norton and after doing a full scan of the system before and after you reboot and the system is clean, then you can move onto the CD's, if you do a selective scan of the CD Norton should warn you if the CD still has the worm.

This kind of worm travels from computer to computer using a BOT search technique. It will start off on the host computer and scan it's local network for share folders, if found it will deploy a executable file and possibly an AUTOLOADER file, when the owner or person sharing the folder on the computer opens the folder for use the autoloader will load the executable and start the process off again. Normally BOTS can search masses of IP address and deploy the files, because of Broadband, poorly managed routers and unprotected wifi systems the BOTS can get into many computers on the internet without even trying.

Since the introduction of 8mb and 24mb broadband and Wifi and malware programmers becoming more knowledgable they now not only can gain access to unsecure computers they can also break into single computers using many computers doing random password cracking techniques.

If in doubt try rebooting your computer in safe mode (press f8 at boot) and do a full scan, try a different virus, malware package like AVG or Spybot search and destroy. If after doing a few scans and the system is clean then you are more likely in the clear. I know scanning your computer takes time and time is money, but it's better being safe than losing more time when it comes back.

Hi,
Instead of using norton, i´m using kaspersky to remove the fujack. When i try to install Norton at normal windows, it won´t allow me to install the SAV, it will rollback the installation. So, i install kaspersky in safe mode and it work. i scan the computer and it detect the virus. Another thing to do is try to disconnect from network before you install the AV and run full scan.
Thanks
